About this work
The high priest Simeon holds the Christ Child in his arms, brought to the temple by Mary and Joseph. They kneel before the altar with a pair of doves in their hands. The dove of the Holy Spirit descends upon the Child. The prophetess Anna and others look on. In the margin a six-line caption, in two columns, in Latin.
