About this work

Goliath lies on the ground. David stands with one foot on his chest and raises Goliath's sword above his head, ready to behead him. To the left, the Philistines flee, while Saul's soldiers to the right pursue them. Below the image, four four-line verses in Dutch and a reference to the biblical text in 1 Sam. 17:51.
