About this work

Goliath lies on the ground. David stands with one foot on his chest and raises Goliath's sword above his head, ready to behead him. To the left, the Philistines flee, while Saul's soldiers pursue them. In the margin, a one-line Latin caption from 1 Samuel (incorrectly designated as 1 Kings on the print).
