Mary sits kneeling at her desk in her bedchamber. She is visited by the angel Gabriel. He tells her that she will bear a son who shall be called Christ. Above them God the Father causes the dove of the Holy Spirit to descend upon her. Angels watch from heaven. In the margin a six-line caption, in two columns, in Latin.
