About this work
The Statue of Zeus was located inside the Doric temple of Olympia, on the Greek Peloponnese. It was made around 433 BC by the Athenian sculptor Phidias. To the right of the temple a statue of Hercules. On the steps in front of the temple people worshipping the statue of Zeus. In the foreground right Olympic wrestlers and runners, left one of the winners is crowned. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the eight wonders of the world.
