About this work
King Nebuchadnezzar has had a golden statue erected and ordered everyone to bow down to it. At the sound of the trumpet, a crowd bows before the statue. A man tells the king, on the balcony on the left, that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to bow. The three men are taken captive in the middle of the background. Far on the right, a furnace is being stoked to burn anyone who does not bow. Below the image, a Latin reference to the biblical text in Daniel 3.
