About this work

The selection of the building site for a church in the thirteenth century. Outdoors, a bishop and a master builder, together with a group of monks, are determining the site for a church. Part of a series of six scenes from moments in Dutch history presented as tableaux vivants by members of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam on 2 December 1864.
