About this work
On the feast of Saint Luke in 1654, Joost van den Vondel is crowned with a laurel wreath. On the left, Joan Huydecoper; on the right stands the painter Jan Asselijn. Part of a series of six scenes from moments in Dutch history presented as tableaux vivants by members of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam on 2 December 1864.
