About this work
William the Silent sits in an armchair and listens to Philip of Marnix, who reads a text from a sheet of paper. He holds a quill in his hand. Six other gentlemen stand or sit around them and watch attentively. At William's feet stands a stool, on which and next to which lie bulky folios. On the wall hangs a map. On a small cabinet stands a globe.
