About this work

Ceres, as the personification of Summer, sits on a cloud and is surrounded by three personified months who offer fruit baskets, olive branches, and grain. Ceres is crowned with a wreath of grain, in her hands she holds a burning torch and a sickle. The print is part of a four-part series of prints on the four seasons.
