About this work
Paul sits in a landscape. He leans on a book and holds writing equipment. Against his leg rests a sword. In front of him lies a stack of books. In the distance the conversion of Paul is depicted, where a beam from heaven with the Latin translation of Christ's words 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me' strikes a group of soldiers and Paul falls from his horse. Below the image is a six-line Latin text describing the scene.
