About this work

Paul sits in a landscape. He leans on a book and holds writing implements. A sword rests against his leg. In the distance, Paul's conversion is depicted, with a ray from heaven containing the Latin translation of Christ's words "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me" striking a group of soldiers, causing Paul to fall from his horse. Below the image is a six-line Latin text describing the scene.
