About this work

Portrait of Pastor Anton Haeseck in an oval frame with laurel wreath and olive branches. The inscription gives some special facts from the life of this man, which are not based on truth. He was the first pastor of Geulle in the diocese of Liège and practiced this profession there for 100 years. He died at the age of 125 in 1586. The Bishop of Liège asked Haeseck how he had reached such a high age. Haeseck answered that he had abstained from three things: women, drunkenness, and anger.
