About this work
Twelve persons in costumes from different cities, on the street in front of a city inn, c. 1820-1830. According to the inscriptions below the title, these are women from the towns of Zaandam and Hindeloopen, a woman from the wealthy bourgeoisie and other persons with the professions of auctioneer, wine seller, maid and milkmaid. The two children indicated as orphans. See also the pendant.
