Bust of Jacob Cats, to the right, standing in a niche. Under the bust lie various attributes, referring to Cats as a poet, such as books, inkpot and quill, a globe, a lyre, a flute. The beehive refers to the Amsterdam theatre. The snake and the mirror indicate the cardinal virtue of Prudence and Wisdom.
