About this work
Mattathias kills a Jew who, according to the king's command, wanted to offer a sacrifice on the altar in Modeïn and the king's envoy. Thus he showed his devotion to the law of God. Below the image a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Maccabees 2.
