Joab kills Amasa: The Fifth Commandment

About this work
Joab betrays and murders Amasa without David's permission. He stabs him under the pretense of a friendly embrace (2 Samuel 20:8–12). This is a violation of the Fifth Commandment: "Thou shalt not kill." In the background, the consequences of this act. Joab is in turn murdered by Solomon's soldiers while seeking protection in the temple. The print has a Latin caption. The print series depicts the Ten Commandments through scenes from the Old Testament.
