About this work

Allegory on Justice and Peace in Christianity. The female personifications of Justice and Peace sitting side by side and embracing. Angels on both sides and above. In the background on the left Moses with the tablets of the law, on the right Christ on the cross. In the richly ornamented frame, the personifications of Reason (Ratio), Peace (Pax), and Justice (Justitia), the symbols of the Law (Lex) and Faith (Fides), and references to biblical texts. Emblem print on faith, ca. 1560. With an inscription of 4 times 4 lines in Latin.
