About this work

On the left Moses is surrounded by Israelites who are grateful for the safe crossing. With his staff he points to the Red Sea to let the water flow back again so that the Egyptians cannot follow them. In the foreground the pharaoh drowns with his army. God has appeared from a cloud at the top and points to the pharaoh in drowning distress. Biblical image from Exod. 15 with in the margin a line of text in French.
