Birth of Christ and John the Baptist

Various scenes from the Gospel of Luke about the birth of Christ. The scenes are numbered by passage. Far left of the print the angel Gabriel appears to the priest Zacharias. He announces to him the birth of his son John the Baptist (Luke 1:9-20). Zacharias then leaves the temple and is questioned by the people (Luke 1:21-23). Far right Mary is visited by the angel Gabriel who announces to her the birth of Christ (Luke 1:26-35). In the middle of the print the visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth (Luke 1:36-56). In the background on the right the birth of John the Baptist is visible (Luke 1:57-58), while the Christmas story with the birth of Christ in a stable in Bethlehem takes place centrally in the background (Luke 2:6-14). On the left Christ is circumcised in the temple (Luke 2:21).
