About this work

A father leads a military exercise with his two daughters and son in the living room, during which the lamp is hit with a rifle and one of the boys steps on the cat. Part of a series of approx. 24 caricatures from 1828 on the inequalities within the Belgian civic guards due to social inequality within the corps, after the reorganisation introduced on 11 April 1827.
