About this work
Christ sits at table eating in the house of Simon the Pharisee. Mary Magdalene kneels on the ground anoints his feet and dries them with her hair. Print is part of a series on the eight Beatitudes of Christ and illustrates the Beatitude: Blessed are those who mourn. In the right lower corner this text from Matt. 5:4 in Latin. At the bottom in the margin a verse in Latin about the Beatitude and the scene.
