St. Benedict, founder of the order of the Benedictines, looks over his shoulder at an image of the crucified Christ. On the right in the background the visit of King Totila. The king of the Ostrogoths in Italy asks Benedict to receive his blessing. In the margin a Bible quote from Sirach 48 in Latin.
