St. Augustine of Hippo, one of the Church Fathers, with his hands folded in prayer. On the left in the background the vision of Augustine: he walks along the sea pondering the Trinity. Then he meets a child who has dug a hole in the sand and tries in vain to fill it with water. In the margin a Bible quote from Sirach 47 in Latin.
