About this work
Satirical print on the state of Europe on 24 January 1786 (the birthday of the King of Prussia). Seated centrally side by side: the English King George III and Frederick II of Prussia on their thrones under a canopy. This symbolizes the alliance between these two countries to form a front against the Austrian Emperor and France. All at the expense of the Netherlands. At the bottom: two Dutchmen in the claws of the Habsburg eagle. On the right: the Dutch cow is milked by France. Stadtholder William V begs the two kings for help. Further references to other European countries and sovereigns.
