Napoleon's Return from Elba, 1815

Satirical print on Napoleon's return from his exile on Elba, March 1815. Napoleon disturbs the sovereigns of Europe who are working in a dressmaking workshop (cutting Europe into pieces). On the floor lie King Louis XVIII and Pope Pius VII; John Bull stands between them. On the right: the Dutchman (possibly King William I is meant here) is startled. Also present: the Austrian Emperor Francis II and the Russian Tsar Alexander I. On the left on the tailor's table: the Prussian General Blücher and King Frederick William III, and the Swedish King Charles XIV. In the caption: a poem in four columns.
