About this work

Satirical print on the position of France after Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815. The French Maiden lies on the ground and is being beaten by the Allies. On her stomach stands a knight in armor representing the military power of the Allies. On the left: the Austrian Emperor, the Russian Tsar, and the Dutchman. The Dutchman cuts a piece from the dress of France with scissors. On the right: Wellington fastens a chain to the ground; next to him Blücher robs the French Maiden of a money bag and a medallion. With many other figures and texts.
