About this work
The personification of the lustful man (Homo Carnalis) sits at a table with a donkey. The donkey, symbol for his body (Caro), is fed with all kinds of delicacies. Behind the table to the left stands a poorly dressed woman, the personification of the soul neglected by man (Anima). She suffers hunger and gnaws on a bare bone. Print from a series of four prints on man's care for the body and neglect of the soul. Each print with an inscription in Latin, French and Dutch.
