About this work
A donkey lies in his sickbed and vomits. He symbolizes the sick human body (Caro) and is cared for by the personification of the lustful man (Homo Carnalis). A doctor has been called to the patient and examines a flask with urine. In the background the personification of the soul neglected by man (Anima) dies in a barn. A devil flies above her and will accompany her to hell. Print from a series of four prints on man's care for the body and neglect of the soul. Each print with an inscription in Latin, French and Dutch.
