Cupid with an Axe at a Tree

About this work
Amor patiently chops down a tree. Just as many blows of an axe can fell a tree and many water droplets can hollow out a piece of marble, so constancy in love will overcome everything. Thirty-third emblem from Emblemata Amatoria.
