About this work

Christ carries the cross, followed by his followers and soldiers. In the foreground are his mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. A man, seen from behind, points towards Golgotha. On the left, a man dressed in a lion's skin and a man with a spear. Below the image, the title in Latin, four four-line verses in Dutch, and a reference to the biblical text in John 19.
