About this work
The shepherds worship the Christ child in the manger. Joseph stands next to Mary. An old woman sits kneeling before the manger. Behind her, three shepherds and a young shepherdess with a jug on her head. In the background to the right, the Annunciation to the shepherds. Below the scene, four four-line verses in Dutch and a reference to the biblical text in Luke 2:7.
