About this work
Satirical print on Napoleon, possibly in connection with the abolition of excise duties (regie tobacco and bread?) with the departure of the French from the Netherlands in 1813. On a podium, prefect Antoine de Celles, Emperor Napoleon, and Duterage are bound to pillories. They are mocked by a crowd, mostly wearing headgear with orange ribbons. Two men in the center hold up tobacco leaves and bread, while several boys pick up stones from the street.
