About this work

Before a burning altar, a man and a woman join hands in the presence of an angel who will unite them in marriage. To the left of this pair stands the personification of Temperance with a horse bit in her hands, behind her an elderly couple walks with staffs. In the sky, Jupiter enthroned sits next to Apollo who is in the company of a number of muses, Amor and Venus. Print marked top right: First Book.
