Relief with Arion on the dolphin above the door to the Assurance Chamber in the northern gallery of the Town Hall on the Dam in Amsterdam. Seated on a dolphin, he plays his lyre. In the background on the right, a ship with the Amsterdam flag and the city coat of arms. Various versions of the myth of Arion exist. However, in every telling, he is saved by a dolphin sent by Apollo thanks to his singing and playing. By his performance, Arion effectively secured his rescue – in the Assurance Chamber, goods could be insured. Numbered in the lower right: LVII.
