About this work
Statue of Pax, the personification of Peace, in the center on the tympanum on the facade (east side) of the Town Hall on the Dam in Amsterdam. In one hand a branch of peace, in the other a caduceus. At her feet the horn of plenty. Refers to the Peace of Münster concluded in 1648. In that same year the first stone of the town hall was laid. Numbered below right: X.
