About this work

In a village, soldiers rob items from houses and load them onto carts. Villagers are taken away bound. The village church and some houses are on fire. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 incl. title print) prints depicting various kinds of misery that warfare brings with it.
