About this work

In a village soldiers loot items from houses and load them onto carts. Villagers are taken away bound. The village church and some houses are on fire. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 including title print) prints with depictions of various kinds of miseries that warfare brings with it.
