About this work
Some soldiers on horseback and on foot take colleagues who have misbehaved along as prisoners, meanwhile searching for more soldiers to punish. On the right and left, some are hiding in the undergrowth. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 incl. title print) prints depicting various kinds of misery that warfare brings with it.
