About this work

Some soldiers on horseback and on foot lead colleagues who have misbehaved as prisoners, meanwhile searching for more soldiers to be punished. On the right and left a number are hiding in the bushes. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 including title print) prints with depictions of various kinds of miseries that warfare brings with it.
