About this work
Page from a book (p. 47) with text on the verso. In an oval cartouche the interior of a room. Two men light various candles, illuminating the room. Above the cartouche the title (motto) of the print and a quote from the Bible (Psalm 138:12). Below the print an inscription: 'Het is my nut, Word' ick gesnut.' and a description explains: setbacks belong to life just as much as prosperity, just as day and night follow each other. Darkness causes us to light candles, and through setbacks we remember God and let his light burn in us.
