About this work

Allegory on the occasion of the unveiling of the statue of Rembrandt on the former Botermarkt, now (since 1876) Rembrandtplein, on May 27, 1852. Centrally, a monument crowned by a bust of Rembrandt, in the pedestal an eleven-line verse. On either side, statues of Art and Fame. At the top, two allegorical trophies dedicated to Painting and to Engraving and Sculpture.
