About this work
Landscape with Hagar, the second wife of Abraham, in the middle. An angel stands next to her and points to a water source to the right. According to Genesis 21:14-19, Abraham had sent Hagar into the desert with her child Ishmael. When they have no more water, Hagar leaves her child behind under a bush (bottom left of the print). God sends an angel who leads Hagar to a water source. Thus God saved the life of Hagar and Ishmael.
