About this work

Vignette with female personification of Poetry playing a lyre on the bank of a watercourse in a southern landscape. Behind her stands a pedestal with a relief of Bellerophon defeating the Chimaera, a swan on the bank spreads its wings. In a small medallion Truth is represented. Winding around a border are a garland and a scroll with the motto Studium scientiarum genitrix.
