About this work

Portrait in oval frame of Francis I of France. Bust to the right. Francis I wears armor and a mantle with the fleur-de-lis of the French royal house. The oval medallion is carried by a flying angel who carries symbols of the Catholic Church, namely a cross, a stole and a chalice with host. Beside the angel lie the papal tiara and keys of Rome, symbol for the Vatican. Two putti play at the bottom of the print around a tombstone.
