About this work

English woman, seen from the back, wearing a hat with a tapering crown and hatband and a wide brim. Over the shoulders a double-folded neckerchief trimmed with a wide strip of scalloped lace. Below a short bodice with high waist and wide sleeves, on a skirt gathered from the front. Below a slightly gathered underskirt with hem and a floor-length petticoat with lace hem.
