About this work

English woman, in profile to the left. She is pulling her outer garment up under her left arm, so the embroidered undergarment is visible. A high-closed collar, trimmed with lace, covers neck and shoulders. On the head a tapering hat with cord around the crown and wide floppy brim. Heeled shoes, decorated with a rosette. No. 19 from the series Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus.
