About this work
Two scenes on one sheet, reversed relative to each other. Scene 1: Joseph, as vice-king of Egypt, orders the grain to be harvested and stored. In the middle above a reference to the biblical text in Gen. 41:48. The scene is framed in an ornamental border with hybrid animals. Scene 2: Joseph's brothers tell their father Jacob that Joseph is still alive. Jacob does not believe this at first. In the middle above a reference to the biblical text in Gen. 45:25. The scene is framed in an ornamental border with putti and crabs.
