About this work

The writer Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux grabs a satyr, who personifies satire, by the arm. The satyr holds a scale with the names of Virgilius and Chapelain. In the background, Mount Parnassus. The scene is framed in an ornamental border with two dragons at the top.
