About this work

View of the side of the First Sint-Antoniespoort in Amsterdam. Right in the background the Oude Kerk. This fifteenth-century building came after the city expansions from the end of the sixteenth century to lie within the city (on the Nieuwmarkt) and thus lost its function as a city gate. In 1617-1618 it was fitted out as a weigh house. This print was at the bottom of the representation, left of the middle, numbered (I), this number is however removed after the printing of the paper. Part of a series of five prints in and around Amsterdam.
